How Can I Help?

As is true of most 501 (c) (3) non-profit organizations, Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is able to provide the best service when we have the support of donors who share our vision of helping abused, neglected, and homeless dogs to find their forever  home with loving doggie “parents.”  The need is great.  The fees we charge for adoptions usually come nowhere near the cost of providing our dogs with shelter, healthy food, needed medications, socialization, and surgeries ranging from spay and neuter to more involved procedures for dogs that come to us with physical disabilities that can be at least improved and often completely resolved.  The love, of course, is free of charge!

Many shelter organizations are unable to take the extra step of doing whatever is needed to make it possible for a dog to be as healthy as possible and more likely to be adopted by a caring family.  We believe in the right of every dog to find a forever home, regardless of their condition when they come to us and so we find a way.

Frankly, this gets expensive.  We are very grateful to local veterinarians who provide us with discounted professional services and allow us to “run a tab” when necessary.  And we are often grateful to friends and volunteers who are willing to reach into their pockets and donate money that makes that special care possible.  If you would like to help, please donate via credit card through Pay Pal or by check through the mail to make a tax deductible donation to Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue.

Want to Volunteer?

Bichon and Little Buddies has several different volunteer opportunities.  Hands-on volunteers work with the dogs at the facility, usually walking and socializing the dogs and/or puppies.  For this we ask that you commit to coming in once a week for at least 3 months so the dogs get to know you.  For those that can't commit to a weekly visit, we also need volunteers for special events, transport volunteers, help with special projects (often handyman/woman type projects), and foster homes.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please fill out the online volunteer form found here:

LuLaRoe Fundraiser:  From April 6 - 9, 2017, you can visit a special facebook group for a LuLaRoe Party just for Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue.  All purchases of the popular leggings and other clothing items from LuLaRoe though this party will benefit Bichon and Little Buddies.  Once we have the group set up it will be posted here so you can see the items available as well as videos and other information about LuLaRoe. Visit the group on facebook for more information, or feel free just to join the party to shop. Thanks Kelsey for doing this fundraiser for us!  The shopping link is live: stop by and check out the available LuLaRoe items to benefit Bichon and Little Buddies!

Lure Coursing:  For Pet's Sake Dog Training will be running lure coursing on Sunday May 28, 2017 at the East Troy Salvation Army Camp Sports Field.  The cost will be $10 for 2 runs.  The time is still to be determined, and will be posted as soon as we know.  Thanks Patti and Ed for doing this for Bichon and Little Buddies!

HamBingo:  We are working on scheduling a fun night of HamBingo at Hamburger Mary's in Milwaukee.  You get to play 10 games of bingo with some great prizes available.  Bichon and Little Buddies supplies the bingo prizes and has a donation table set up to fundraise.  Once we have the date confirmed it will be posted here.  We hope you can join us!

Sponsor a Dog's Vet Care

When dogs come into rescue, they often need some time to settle in before being listed for adoption.  During this time, we will get their veterinary needs met, which typically costs between $100-200 for the routine care including spay/neuter, distemper vaccination, rabies vaccination, heartworm test, microchip, vet exam, deworming, and a dental if needed when done through a spay/neuter clinic.  Expenses can go even higher if there are other medical needs.  We are asking some of our supporters to sponsor all or a portion of a dog's routine needs.  If we receive more donations than required for a particular dog, the funds will be applied towards other dogs in need.  If sponsoring a dog, you can select one that is shown below or just note in your paypal comments or with your check that it is for the general medical fund.  Thanks so much!
