Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit dog rescue located in Mukwonago WI (Waukesha County), just a short drive southwest of Milwaukee.  It is licensed by the State of Wisconsin #268555-DS.

Founded in 2000 as a rescue organization for the popular Bichon Frise, the need for services for other small breeds was quickly noted and our Mission was soon expanded to include other small breeds, as well.  On any given day, you will find Bichons, Chihuahuas, Mini Poodles, Dachshunds, Shih Tzus and many others, as well as a great variety of wonderful mixed breed dogs … all needing new homes for various reasons.  Some dogs are surrendered by their owners, some are unclaimed strays, and others are rescued from puppy mills.

We hope you will take some time to peruse our site and see not only the adorable dogs currently available for adoption , but also those who we were able to place in their forever homes, fondly called our alumni.  We look forward to questions and comments and hope you will also visit our Facebook page for the very latest updates.

We firmly believe that every dog deserves a loving forever home, and we are dedicated to making this canine vision of Heaven come true for the hundreds of dogs we take in every year.

Please remember to make an appointment to visit and see our super adoptable dogs (after filling out an application), or come visit during our regular open hours on Thursday afternoons from 2:00 to 6:30 p.m.

We Need Your Help!

Bichon and Little Buddies has always had the mission to help local dogs in need.  The number of incoming dogs needing rehoming has decreased recently.  This is partially due to a reduced need to rehome healthy small dogs in our area, as well as changes with some of our partnering organizations, and the number of dogs that come to us needing more than routine medical care.  Because we are funded strictly through adoption fees and donations, we are projecting that we may only meet half of our yearly budget to cover veterinary expenses, rent, utilities, and insurance this year.  So now we have to put our thinking caps on.

We are asking for monetary donations which can be mailed or paid through  Or paid directly to Bay View Veterinary Clinic at 262-363-9993 to make a donation towards our current bill or towards future care as the needs arise.  You can also sponsor a spay/neuter and routine vetting for new intakes.

For Pet's Sake Dog Training will be hosting a number of  fundraising events for Bichon and Little Buddies, including lure coursing at the East Troy Salvation Army Camp on May 28.

We are also working with some other agencies who may have small dogs that are in need of rescue to help bring our intake numbers up.  Also, we do accept owner surrenders on a case by case basis for dogs under 30 lb.  If you know someone who needs to find a new home for their dog, they can contact us to see if the dog is one that is suitable for Bichon and Little Buddies.  And as always, we need adopters for all the dogs currently in our care, like Bing pictured below.

We know that we are helping many dogs that are badly in need of our services, and we don't want to have to just shut our doors due to lack of funding.  We are a 501c3 non profit, so donations are tax deductible.  If you have any suggestions or questions you can contact Patti at 414-750-0152, or email at

We greatly appreciate everyone's help as we continue to help the dogs that need us most.  Click on our page to see the ongoing and upcoming fundraisers!
